The O.R.E.I. – The Organization of Research in Invisible Environments * – is an independent laboratory that was founded by Marcel Baudot during the interwar period. Its work was on the acoustic manifestations of our environment, and, in particular, on paleophonic phenomena or the presence of sounds retained by materials.
Set up on site and equipped with their esoteric gear, the Organization is responsible for taking samples and performing analyses before the next construction (sewage systems, renovations, city planning projects) buries these precious testimonies of the past forevermore. During these special guided tours, the public will be introduced to paleophonic techniques and will be privy to some of the most unexpected team findings.
* O.R.E.I. is also, in french, an homophone for "ear".
